Sadly, in our society there are a number of children and adults who have been subjected to both subtle and extreme degrees of violence and sexual abuse. For many the ending of such abuse marks the beginning of recovery and the healing of the individual, however there are often deep rooted feelings of victimisation, low self-worth, low self-esteem, unclear boundaries and a fear of intimacy which can remain for a lifetime if not confronted and healed.
Any extreme or traumatic experiences leave an imprint on the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the creative aspect of the mind and as such can exasperate the problem by attracting similar negative situations into the life of the individual long after the event creating an on-going cycle of destruction and devastation. This stems from the unhealed mind and can be remedied. A deep seated fear of intimacy can often result in the individual withdrawing from personal relationships altogether. Whilst this might be beneficial and appropriate in the short term, allowing the individual time and space to heal, it is neither necessary nor healthy in the long term as positive intimate relationships are essential to our happiness and wellbeing and provide us with healing, motivation and support in carrying out our purpose and day to day responsibilities.
In order to end this cycle and heal the subconscious mind we need to implement a method to enable the individual to gain trust and to relate to intimacy as something positive, safe and rewarding. Holistic therapeutic treatments are the perfect way in which to assist an individual in this process and achieve this through:
- • Healing the physical/emotional body of the individual through the power of touch, within a ‘safe’ environment.
- • Creating a calm space where blocked emotions can be brought to the surface and released
- • Creating positive neural pathways through healthy experiences of intimacy and nurturing.
- • Building trust and setting healthy boundaries.
- • Encouraging a sense of self-value and self-respect (which has often been shattered through such traumatic experiences).
- • Empowering an individual to take positive steps in their own healing process to become whole and to release feelings of helplessness and victimisation.
The dignity of the client is respected at all times and care is taken to ensure that they remain appropriately covered throughout the treatment.
We recommend a course of at least 6 treatments to begin with depending on the nature and severity of the abuse and invite the individual to bring a trusted friend or guardian to be present throughout the treatment. For children under the age of 16, a guardian must be present. There is a comfy sofa in the treatment room where the friend or guardian can rest during the treatment.
We also progress the therapy step by step, beginning with a reflexology or Indian head massage and then as the individual gains trust in the therapist and relaxes into the treatments we introduce them to a full body treatment such as Reiki or Aromatherapy and eventually both. Essentially we do this at a rate which is comfortable and non-intrusive so that the experience remains positive and enjoyable throughout. We have a trusted male therapist who can be called in to assist during the final stages of treatments if this is of benefit to the individual.
All cases are dealt with on an individual basis, in the strictest of confidence and with absolute compassion. We encourage all adults of abuse and guardians of children who have been abused to undertake a course of treatments as they offer the most rewarding and transformative healing available to overcome the cyclic nature and ongoing emotional effects of abuse.
This is not intended to replace specialised counselling which we strongly recommend, however it is a powerful and transformative course which stands alone and will serve to compliment any existing counselling.
We offer reduced rates for care institutions and those on benefits who wish to undertake a course of treatments.
You can contact us in the strictest confidence.
